Good and challenging planetary positions
Every planet in your Kundali sits in a sign and a house. Tradition reads some of these positions as favourable, some as mixed and some as challenging. Your free reading lists the favourable and challenging ones.
Houses are counted from your Lagna
The sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth is your Lagna (ascendant), and it is your 1st house. The next sign is the 2nd house, and so on, exactly as in your Lagna chart. Your reading marks the 1st house as (Lagna).
Without a birth time there is no Lagna, so houses are counted from your Moon sign instead, and the reading says (Chandra se).
Strength: uchch, swarashi, neech
- Uchch (exalted): the sign where a planet is traditionally strongest — Jupiter in Cancer, for example.
- Swarashi (own sign) and moolatrikona: signs a planet rules, where it is comfortable and strong.
- Neech (debilitated): the sign opposite its exaltation, where it is traditionally weakest — Jupiter in Capricorn, for example.
How your reading is decided
For each planet in each house, our astrologers have recorded whether the position is favourable, mixed or challenging. Your reading starts from that record and then looks at your chart: an exalted or own-sign planet moves towards favourable, a debilitated one towards challenging, and a planet sitting with Rahu or Ketu counts as more challenging. The planet of your current dasha is listed first, because tradition says it is felt most now.
No AI is involved in your reading, so the same chart always gets the same result.
A challenging position is not a verdict
Most charts have a few challenging positions. They describe tendencies, not certainties, and tradition pairs each one with simple remedies (upay). Your Ilaz gives you those remedies for your own chart.
