What is Ilaz? How upay work

What traditional remedies (upay) are, the kinds you may be given, why the day matters, and how Astroilaz keeps them safe.

In Vedic astrology, a planet in a difficult position is not read as a fixed fate. Tradition offers ilaj (remedy) and nivaran (relief): simple acts meant to ease that planet's influence. These acts are called upay.

The kinds of upay

  • Charity (daan): giving food, grain, oil or clothes to someone in need, often on the planet's day.
  • Prayer and mantra: a short prayer or a mantra repeated a set number of times.
  • Conduct: changes in behaviour, such as respecting elders, keeping promises or avoiding alcohol.
  • Service: feeding animals or helping workers, the elderly or the poor.
  • Objects and acts done once: keeping or floating a simple item, as tradition describes.

Why the day matters

Each planet has a traditional weekday: Sunday for the Sun, Monday for the Moon, Tuesday for Mars, Wednesday for Mercury, Thursday for Jupiter, Friday for Venus and Saturday for Saturn (and, by many, for Rahu). An upay for a planet is usually done on its day, sometimes for a set number of days, such as 40 or 43.

How Astroilaz gives you an Ilaz

Your free reading shows which of your planetary positions are challenging. The Ilaz Plan then gives you two upay for each one: what to do, on which day and for how long, and why it suits your chart, with a weekly planner to follow them.

Every upay is written for a specific planetary position and reviewed by an astrologer before it is offered. You are given one only when your calculated chart has that position.

Kept safe and simple

  • No upay asks you to stop medical treatment, harm anyone or anything, or spend large sums.
  • We never sell gemstones, ritual kits or other remedy items.
  • Upay are traditional practices. They are offered for reflection and spiritual comfort, and no outcome is guaranteed.
